Join Us

New members mean new insights, new experience, new knowledge, and most of all, new friends! We value new members throughout the year, as our focus goes far beyond summer gardens, whether our own or the several community gardens we maintain. Knowledge of gardening is definitely not a prerequisite for joining the Club, but an interest in and enthusiasm for gardening, conservation, the environment, and/or flower arranging will bring you in contact with plenty of like-minded garden enthusiasts. The Garden Club of Wiscasset beautifies our town, supports conservation efforts, works with youth gardeners, organizes educational events, and provides scholarships.

Members are asked to attend meetings regularly, join one of our 14 committees, and participate in our annual Plant Sale fundraiser, held on the first Saturday in May. It is a great way to meet people and get involved while working on interesting projects. We have a very active club with a wide range of committees, projects, and activities. Caring for town gardens, making holiday baskets for town buildings, helping with our newsletter, or learning the art of floral design are just some of the many ways in which you can be involved.

Meetings are held monthly at 12:30pm at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset from September to May on the first Thursday of the month. Our dues are $25/annually. Our meetings are fun and informative with a brief business meeting, followed by a guest speaker. Tea/Coffee and a delicious assortment of savories and sweets are offered after the presentation.

We are eager to meet you and introduce you to our 80+ members of the club! Get in touch with us through our Contact Us page for an application to join. We look forward to hearing from you!

Gardening 101

Learning about gardening never stops. Being part of the Garden Club of Wiscasset is an adventure in expanding gardening know-how, whether you are a weekend dabbler or a talented landscaper. Member expertise in the Club falls along the entire continuum from novice to Master Gardener. We value learning from each other as well as from experts on everything from promoting native plants to propagating lilies, from the benefits of bats to the preservation of bees and butterflies. By bringing in knowledgeable speakers from around the state, we continue to learn how to preserve and protect the environment, to garden for all seasons, to incorporate native plants into our gardens, and to provide barriers to prevent erosion and pollution of our streams and rivers.
