An update from the Therapeutic Gardening Committee on the Wiscasset Green Brain Health Project
Outside, we have been working hard to transform an empty courtyard into a magical garden with multiple styles and sizes of container beds that make it easier for anyone who wants to engage the therapy of gardening. Inside, micro-greens and sprouts are going strong, and the aquarium is coming together. We’ve added beautiful hanging baskets to the elegant front porch. Please join us and meet Dr. Teel to learn more about his Brain Health Program on either of two dates: Friday,

Agüitas, Tisanes, and Other Backyard Delights Good for Your Brain
By Dr. Geneie Everett Last summer, the Pownalborough Courthouse garden team hosted a ‘Gathering in the Garden’ featuring a refreshing assortment of garden-grown herbal teas. Rhubarb was the clear favorite. It is delicious and beautifully colored, but we did not realize it is also considered excellent for the brain. It is packed with powerful antioxidants that combat inflammation and oxidative stress. These properties are linked to protecting brain cells and may help reduce th

Many thanks to those who contribute their time, plants, and baked goods to support our scholarship fund. Looking ahead to June, please see the invitation to our Appreciation Luncheon on Thurs

Seed Starting - What to do next
By Canny Cahn Hello, Seedling Parents- Now that your cherry tomato seeds have gotten past their infancy, it’s time to help them go from crawling to tentative walking. That means that they need to strettttch. “Plant them up” to the next size cell - preferably in a square at least 3” deep - when at least one good pair of true (serrated) leaves appear. Don’t let the plants become crowded if you have more than one baby popping up per cell. Unlike most seedlings, tomatoes thrive
