“ Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.”—-Emily Bronte
What is it about Autumn? The cooling temperatures, the exploding colors or the impending changes to our landscape that are in the coming weeks ahead…magical! I hope you all are enjoying this season to the fullest. Many thanks to all those who were able to help put are community gardens to bed.
A few of us were able to attend the GCFM’s Fall Conference. The weather was nasty but the Snow Pond Center for the Arts that hosted us in Sydney, ME was just lovely. We learned more about invasive plants, bugs and worms. I have some firsthand experience with jumping worms (in my daughter’s garden in PA) and yikes, not something I want in my garden or anyone else’s patch!!! I have included a link to the slide presentation of Gary Fish, Maine Horticulturist, who was the guest speaker. You’ll find some informative bookmarks at the meeting. Please take one.
Sabrina Warner made seasonal arrangements using very creative containers (a repurposed bird feeder, metal junk found behind her barn) along with everything & anything left growing from her yard.
Looking ahead…our December meeting is at 10:30 am and is our annual mug/basket decorating for Meals-on-Wheels and other community groups. After those are complete, Peter Arnold will teach those who wish to stay a wreath-making session…so bring your greens (no hemlock, it doesn’t last well in an arrangement) and join us in making the season bright.
Growing together,
- Sheila
