On July 7th, a dozen members of the Garden Club of Wiscasset gathered at the charming home of Canny Cahn, for a delightful and educational Lupine Seed-Starting Workshop and Potluck. The atmosphere quickly transformed into a warm "meeting of friends" as each attendee introduced themselves, setting a tone of camaraderie and shared passion for gardening.
Our GCW Mentoring Program head proved to be an excellent teacher and a gracious host, sharing her knowledge and the beauty of her own home and garden with the enthusiastic participants. Attendees delved into the practicalities of starting lupine seeds, gaining valuable insights into transplanting techniques, ideal site locations, and ensuring the continued success of these beloved Maine gems in their own gardens. The Garden Club of Wiscasset generously provided all the necessary seeds, planting cells, and soil, making it easy for members to get their lupine projects off to a flourishing start.
Following the hands-on workshop, the event transitioned into a delectable potluck lunch. The spread was a testament to the culinary talents of the GCW members, featuring an array of yummy dishes including a fresh Caprese salad, street corn salad, Korean cucumber salad, homemade bread, fruit salads, and several more delicious contributions. The shared meal provided a perfect opportunity for continued conversation and connection among the gardening enthusiasts.
The Lupine Seed-Starting Workshop and Potluck at Chez Canny was not just an informative session but also a joyful celebration of community, learning, and the simple pleasures of gardening. It undoubtedly left all attendees inspired and ready to cultivate their own beautiful lupines!
