A longtime member of the Garden Club of Wiscasset, Linda Winterberg, passed away on November 6, 2024. Linda was my best friend since attending high school in Chatham, New Jersey. Linda loved the Garden Club. Even though I lived in Florida, I would get updates about the club activities including the yearly plant sale in May, the planting and weeding of the many community gardens in the summer, and making of the special assigned flower arrangements to be displayed at the Garden Club meetings. She always raved about the amazing arrangements her friend, Sally Howe, made and criticized her own but from the pictures she sent me, they were always beautiful. For many years Linda managed the House of Logan gift shop in Boothbay until she started her own company as a rep for various manufacturers including Danica Candles and companies in France and India manufacturing beautiful linens. Linda traveled and sold these products to high-end gift stores, concentrating mostly in Maine. During the years Linda obtained a large collection of beautiful tablecloths which have been used at special functions for the Garden Club, for her church, for the Wiscasset Yacht Club, and for the yearly Friends of the Library function every Labor Day, beautifying each of these events. Linda was an amazing organizer and planner and when she took on a job she went full out to get the job done. Linda was a wonderful wife to Fred, mother to Jennifer, Rick, Jeff, and Mary, and a great friend. I can’t imagine life without her. She is going to be missed by all her family and many friends.
The Memorial Service for Linda will be held at First Congregational Church, Wiscasset.
