President's Chirp: August, 2026

Where has our summer gone? My goodness, I cannot believe it’s August and I swear I have seen some leaves on a few Maple trees beginning to get their “fall” coloring! I am definitely not ready to proceed to the next season just yet. I find our gardens fascinating in the changes/challenges from year to year of who is content and who is struggling. My Lavender and Shasta Daisies are very happy this year, so is my Crocosmia (pictured here). Petunias, not great, compared to last year.

Geraniums have been in constant bloom. Tomatoes, yikes, can’t figure out what is going wrong there. I hope you all are having great success in your yards, and if not, there is always next year…A reminder that our first regular meeting is Thursday, September 3 at noon. That will sneak up on us before you know it, so mark your calendars because we can’t wait to see you, chat about our summer, and learn about those “Magnificent Mushrooms”.
